On Friday 28th March, I-Foundation completed the purchase of 5.5 acres of land that will be home for the upcoming Krishna-Avanti School, the UK's first state-funded Hindu School. The site cost £3.15million with an additional £600,000 Section 106 contribution. Plans are underway for a groundbreaking ceremony, combined with a small religious ceremony that asks forgiveness from the earth before any building commences. It is anticipated this will take place in May, with full-scale building work commencing in June. When complete, the building will be state-of-the-art, combining the best of modern school design with traditional elements of faith-based and educational architecture. The building will also reflect a high level of attention to landscape and the extensive implementation of environmental technologies. The school will open with a Reception Class on a nearby existing school site in September this year, moving across to the new building in summer of 2009. There has also been change at the I-Foundation who have appointed a new Director, Mr Ramesh Shah. Mr Shah, who joins the other Directors of I-Foundation Pradip Gajjar, Nitesh Gor, Upendra Kalan, and Prashun Popat, brings a wealth of experience across chartered accountancy, real estate, charitable schools and angel investing. Along with a change in Directors, I-Foundation has also changed offices.
